With a view of Mt. Rainier on one side and of the Mt. St. Helens volcano on the other, the 300-acre Chehalis preserve offers private campsites amid a forest of maple, alder, and douglas fir trees. Local attractions lure summer campers, and winter campers enjoy excellent steelhead fishing in the Cowlitz River and other local streams.

From I-5: Take I-5 to Exit 71 (Onalaska), midway between Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington. Go east 2/10 mile to Forest Road. Take Forest Road east 1.6 miles to Jackson Hwy and drive 4/10 mile to North Fork Road. Turn right on North Fork Road and drive 4.1 miles to Centralia-Alpha Road. Turn right on Centralia-Alpha Road and drive 6/10 mile to the preserve on the right.
From the east on Hwy 12: Take the Morton exit. Drive to downtown Morton, and turn left at the only stop light in town. This is Hwy 508. Follow for about 20 miles to Alpha Road. Turn right and follow Alpha (which becomes Centralia-Alpha Road) to the preserve. The preserve is between mileposts 10 and 11.
