Special events provide plenty of old-fashioned fun. Barbecues, potlucks and hayrides add to the good times.
You’ll find picnic facilities, restrooms and boat ramps on each end of the lake, which is stocked with bass and bluegills. Nearby, explore antiques shops, wineries and parks. Visit Popeye’s hometown, Chester, Illinois. Marvel at the 18th-century architecture in Ste. Genevieve. Hop a Mississippi Riverboat at Cape Girardeau.
