The State House in Concord, built in 1819 is the oldest State capitol in which the legislative branches meet in their original chambers. The granite quarries on Rattlesnake Hill produced granite for the Library of Congress in Washington, DC and are still a working quarry today. The Loudon Racetrack hosts some famous events with Nascar races and the annual Championship Motorcycle Races bringing thousands of people to enjoy these events. In Hillsboro and Pittsfield the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival where you can take a trip in a balloon, draws many talented artisans displaying and selling their crafts. In the late spring, early summer, at the Amoskeag Fishways you can watch migrating river herring, and American shad make their way up the 54 steps of the fish ladder to avoid the Amoskeag Dam.
Lake Winnipasaukee, the largest lake in NH is enjoyed all year with boating in the summer and ice fishing enthusiasts in their fishing shanties during the winter months. A drive through the White Mountains possibly in a beautiful Class “A” RV gives you the opportunity to enjoy so much of the natural beauty of the lakes and mountains of this small state.
